The use of technology, techniques and styles.

In 'Doll Face' by Andy Huang and 'Muto' the use of animation is very prominent, both of the videos use different types of animation, for example 'Doll Face' uses computer animation, this type of animation is good for creating special effects like the mechanical arm in the video, whereas the animation of 'Muto' is stop frame animation, which is good at showing more 'real life' things. Both of these animation techniques are quite time consuming. Stop frame animation is possibly harder to produce because, in order to create fluid motion an animator would need to spend days or possibly weeks creating the animation. However, computer animation can be equally as hard, due to the various things that could go wrong with a computer.

Narrative and non-narrative structures.

In many pieces of video there is often some sort of narrative contained within, often these narratives are structured in a traditional style, with a beginning, middle and end, however this is not always the case. In some pieces of video there is an invert to the traditional structure, where the end comes first, and the beginning last, whereas in many pieces of artistic video there is no narrative structure at all. This is to allow an audience to get a meaning from the video without waiting for an end. An example of this is 'Chameleon' by Tina Gonsalves.

Audience and audience interpretation of the work.

Alot of the time, when a piece of art is produced and shown, the audience will often have different interpretations of what the artwork is about. It is not especially important that everybody has the same interpretation of art, as it is usually more important to the artist that people have their own interpretation of the artwork, because the artist often create art with multiple meanings for an audience to interpret.

The use of exhibition space to create meaning.

Artists often use exhibition space to create meaning, for example, in Brighton there was an exhibit in a darkened church. I don't know if anyone else feels the way I do about darkened churches, however, the exhibited work was, I thought, quite creepy and the surroundings supported this thought.
The exhibit would have had a completely different feel if it were in, lets say, a brightly lit building. It would likely also have a completely different meaning to the one it had in the church.
It is often not the artwork that creates meaning for a piece, but rather the surroundings it is exhibited in.

My experimental video ideas.

one of my ideas for my experimental video is a person falling down a flight of stairs, repeating the footage, to seem as though they are falling down a really long flight of stairs, before having that person get to the bottom of the stairs, then having them get up, unhurt, then looking around and walking off.
Another one of my ideas is to film someone talking, then having the voice fade out, after that having the person sort of blur. the camera would then zoom in to the background behind the person which has become more focused.
